I’ve traveled since I can truly remember from the beach, mountains, to see family, mission trips, my daddy’s business trips, and anything in between and that has followed me to where I love having the next trip planned on the calendar. I love to go on the next adventure and learning to be my authentic self through a version of me traveling.

There are plenty of reasons to travel, like learning new skills, but one of my favorites is the chance to disconnect from what might have become mundane in your days.

As you prepare your budget line to travel and you dream of the trips you are headed on, say no to materialistic temptations you might have in life.

Topic 1: Why

Traveling can help you in developing skills such as confidence, independence, and problem-solving that might help you in navigating through an unfamiliar place.

You’ll make memories that will be created as unforgettable memories. These are ones that can be everlasting. I remember traveling with both my grandmothers about seven years ago and they would tell stories of times they got to travel. Embrace the travel to create memories that are going to follow you throughout the years and become stories you tell others.

Building character because you’ll learn about yourself, find an openness for opportunities, and developing of organizational skills.

Traveling helps to boost mental health, by helping to prevent burnout. Improving your productivity and boosting creativity.

This can be because travel takes you away from your pressures and chaos of day to day

Travel can help to boost your feeling of happiness. This is because travel can give you a sense of adventure and excitement that’ll help boost your happiness.

You’ll get to meet new people who are different and seeing new things to possibly making new friends.

Traveling can help you improve a relationship with loved ones.

Traveling to new places helps to explore new cuisines, this means you are in new places to eat the food and cuisine of the area where you have traveled to. I have to say, it is one of my favorite aspects of traveling abroad with the simplistic available options I find in eating with my chronic disease.

Stacked Intent is all about looking at self, which means that in traveling you can find the self-exploration of who you are as you travel. You might even learn new aspects of yourself when you go into it with a way to listen. You’ll be able to identify you better at you as a transforming picture while you are traveling.

I believe one of the biggest why’s is because traveling can simply be fun as you have great new experiences.

Research shows that travel helps your well-being 15 days before a trip and can last for a month after you’re traveled. This is because travel is affecting your hedonic adaptation. This gives us overall life satisfaction from traveling. There is a positive psychology that gives a connection between traveling and happiness reporting of helping quality of life, well-being, and overall life satisfaction.

What do you think about the destination of where you travel? Research from tourism shows that the images of your destinations can give positive vibes and life satisfactions. This can come through positive psychology that is aimed to help mental health. Be sure to pick where you are traveling to give positively to your happy version of self.

Though in looking for your whys to travel, sometimes those travels that are around holidays which can be a cause of stress and not help with enjoying a trip because many worries are followed by this.

Topic 2: Who

When you are choosing who you are going to travel with look for individuals who have similar interests, personalities match, budget, traveling with someone who is 5-10 years within your age when you aren’t related, and have a similar culinary interest.

If we take my upcoming Greece trip that is happening soon, the interest of loving to travel to new places and discovering what is local to an area would do are factors that tend to contribute to our booking of trips — and how my sister and I have always traveled. We have the personality to travel that I have seen come out through the way we learned to travel with my parents as they taught us to take a city, digest the city, and plan how we want to explore the city. We’ve watched this help us throughout our trips from traveling locally to down the east coast getting to see lighthouses, to enjoying our experience in China and now I cannot wait to see how this upcoming Greece trip gives to us through our personalities. We learned how to listen to everyone on the trip to look at our timeline and make sure everyone gets the opportunity to have input on the itinerary. I’ve learned over the years, sometimes it depends on who the trip is with and then what the purpose of the trip.

Budget is huge to when you are planning who you are traveling with. Being honest with each other about how much you spend in which areas is very helpful in planning the trip. A place to help in the budget sometimes is simply cooking at your air bnb. About six years ago we took a cousin’s trip and to help enjoy our time together — and not try and take fifteen people out for three meals a day — we preplanned to cook meals at the mountain cabin. This gave us great conversation around the table not having to carpool into town and try to go sit down with so many of us. For this trip and purpose cooking at the mountain cabin was helpful for time together and for our budget. It is important to establish this through conversation beforehand. Remember this can be an uncomfortable conversation, though it is an important conversation to have beforehand.

Talking about who you go with, if someone has food restrictions or a dietary restriction is important to address that when picking a place to eat. When traveling abroad I’ve always tried to take the rule of eating the cuisine of the culture that we found ourselves in.  Though you do have to be aware if you have food allergies what you are eating because this can affect the reminder of a trip.

Are you traveling with someone who loves to document? Budget? List addict? Who are you traveling with? Just remember that we all have different personalities, and it is important as you are traveling because that will affect the kind of trip you are going to have.

Traveling solo can be important to help you in learning to understand what you are capable of.

Topic 3: How

Plan your trip is next up and getting your packing list together based on details like: where you are going, is it going to be for a weekend or week? Look at whether you need to pack a swim suite, rainwear, for cold weather, or is it going to be warm weather? Just be sure to look ahead at weather to know what you need to pack and what you need to leave behind. I am really good at packing for an airplane, but when I have access to my car – I’ll always pack more!

Make sure that you have documentation for all that you need. If you are traveling internationally be sure to leave a copy of your documents behind with a trusted person in your life for the just in-case moments.

Are you flying and not checking a bag? Make sure you only put in a suitcase that is approved. You can always be TSA precheck, clear, global checks to be able to shorten your wait time at the security checks.

What is your communication going to look like? You might need an app like whatsapp to communicate within the country you are headed to. Make sure your phone is on an international plan if you are headed outside your country, so you do not end up with a surprise bill on the other side.

What does your transportation look like? This can vary from place to place of what you need and what is available for transportation. There are places you’ll travel that using the public transportation is going to be a lot easier than traveling with a rental car, but there are other places you’ll need a rental car to be able to explore. Know where you are headed to see what you need for transportation.
